MORE than seven out of 10 people in Yorkshire and Humberside are failing to eat the recommended five daily portions of fruit and vegetables according to research released today.

The Cancer Research UK survey of more than 4,000 UK men and women showed Yorkshire and Humberside was below the national average of 34% of people who ate the recommended daily portions.

The regional figure was only 27%.

A regional comparison of diets highlights a patchwork of eating habits. In the south-west 46% reached the target.
