RESIDENTS and local councillors have joined forces to tackle a fly-tipping problem in Golcar.
They have complained to cabinet member Clr Andrew Marchington over the problem on land between Marina Terrace and Intake.
Tree clippings, cupboards and refuse have all been dumped on the land and despite residents attempts at a clean-up the problem has persisted.
Clr Marchington said the residents had worked hard to try to keep the area litter-free.
But he said within a week of the work being done more tipping had taken place.
"The frustrating thing is that most of what is dumped could be taken away for free if only people would be bothered to pick up the phone," he said.
He is now heading a new campaign in the area aiming to let people know about the service and encourage them to use it, as well as reporting fly-tippers.
The council will collect up to six bags of garden refuse at one time as well as bulky items such as wardrobes and mattresses.
Anyone wanting to use the free service should contact the council on 01484 414700 or 01484 223462 for hearing impaired people.
