RESIDENTS have been asked for their views on hospital changes.

The Mid-Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is shaking up its services at Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pinderfields in Wakefield.

Trust bosses want to build a state-of-the-art kidney and bowel surgery unit in Dewsbury.

But the hospital would lose neonatal intensive and high-dependency care, inpatient surgery for children and inpatient orthopaedic trauma surgery.

Councillors from Kirklees and Wakefield will discuss the plans at a meeting at Dewsbury Town Hall next Tuesday at 10am.

People who would like to address the meeting should call the Kirklees Scrutiny Office on 01484 221 864.

Written comments can also be sent to Scrutiny and Governance Team, First Floor, Civic Centre III, Huddersfield HD1 2TG, or sent by email to scrutiny.governance@kirklees.gov.uk by noon on Friday September 25.

Full details of the plan can be found at the website www.wakefielddistrict.nhs.uk/yourhospitalsyoursay.

A decision is expected to be announced in November.

Any changes would be made in 2011.
