A RESPECTED teacher and father-of-three has died unexpectedly.

David Kissack – who taught at Salendine Nook High School for many years – passed away on Thursday morning.

The cause of death is unknown. The 49-year-old from Brighouse was an ICT (Information Communications Technology) teacher and had previously taught maths.

He passed away the same day the New Hey Road school was closed due to strike action.

It meant the hundreds of pupils and colleagues heard the sad news after returning to school yesterday.

Mr Kissack began teaching at Salendine Nook High School in 1987. He later left to teach at Castle Hall in Mirfield before returning to Salendine Nook where he was an ICT teacher and second in charge of the department. He lived in Brighouse with his wife Kathryn. Mr Kissack was pronounced dead at Calderdale Royal Hospital and Halifax Coroner’s Office has been notified.
