WALKERS will now be able to rest beside the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. The Colne Valley Society has bought three seats and put them at Marsden, West Slaithwaite and Linthwaite. Society chairman Glenda Oldroyd - pictured with fellow member Malcolm Wood - said the £750 costs had been met from the sale of publications and videos produced by the group. She added: "We have a policy of ploughing back most of our profits into community projects and we think the provision of these seats in picturesque parts of the valley will be appreciated by local people." A spokesperson from British Waterways, which installed the seats, said: "Hundreds of visitors enjoy the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and these seats will enable more people to enjoy the scenery."
