A COUPLE missed their coach home after Town's play-off victory in Cardiff and had to fork out £280 for a taxi home.

But they still beat the coach which set off without them.

Geoff and Salley Shaw, of Birkby, had gone down to Cardiff for the showpiece final on an organised coach trip.

But after the May 31 game they had trouble finding the coach.

Salley said: "We felt to walk for miles looking for it. We asked the police - but they directed us to the Mansfield coaches instead!"

When the couple finally found where the coach should have been, it had gone.

Salley, 49, added: "We had two choices - a taxi home or spend the night at Cardiff police station.

"We opted for the trip home. It cost £280, but at least the driver was kind enough to take us all that way.

"We set off at 9pm and arrived home at 1am, about an hour before our coach arrived back in town!"
