AN AMATEUR rugby league player is feared paralysed after a match in Huddersfield.

Loose forward Danny Scott, 23, from Lindley, was rushed to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary after being hurt in a tackle during the match between Moldgreen and Sowerby Spartans on Saturday.

Mr Scott, who was named as Moldgreen's Sportsman of the Year in 2002, suffered spinal injures during the Pennine League Division Three match at Ridgeway in Dalton.

An ambulance was immediately called and Mr Scott was not moved until crews arrived.

He has since been transferred from the Royal Infirmary to Leeds General Infirmary, where he has undergone two operations.

His condition today is described as "stable".

Mr Scott, an ex-pupil of All Saints High School, in Bradley, had been enjoying a successful season with Moldgreen and was one of the stars of a struggling team.
