A ROAD in Huddersfield will be closed when the second phase of improvements begins.

Resurfacing using large machinery begins on April 25 at Deighton Road, Deighton, and Sheepridge Road, Sheepridge.

The road will be closed for four days from 7am to 6pm each day.

Through traffic will be diverted along Riddings Road. Access for residents will be available.

A Kirklees Council spokesman said: "Those living between Brackenhall Road and Browning Road may have to wait while certain work is being done or tarmac is cooling.

"Residents are asked to park elsewhere or be prepared to move their vehicles."

A further three day closure will be necessary the following week to adjust ironwork in the road.

The work is part of a £500,000 scheme of improvements in the area that will include road and pavement resurfacing, junction improvements, a new zebra crossing and traffic calming measures.

The council said it apologised for disruption during the concluding phase of the project.
