ROAD improvements worth more than £1m were agreed at last night’s Cabinet meeting.

Councillors backed a £470,000 plan for Varley Road in Slaithwaite and a £700,000 blueprint for Paddock.

The work in Slaithwaite will cover a 1.3 mile stretch of road. The three-month resurfacing programme will begin within days.

Resurfacing of 1.5 miles in Paddock – including Market Street, Church Street and Lowergate – will get under way in August and should be finished by February.
