YOUNG web designers are being asked to help get the road safety message across to their peers.

They are being invited to design a safety mascot for a website and a full computer system and design package is up for grabs as the top prize.

Tyre manufacturer Goodyear is offering the prize as it launches its school children safety sectionwww.drivehomesafely.com

The site supports the Department for Transport (DfT) THINK! campaign, and will contain information and links to the DfT as well as quizzes, puzzles and competitions.

Goodyear's site reinforces the safety message and gives special attention to the Green Cross Code.

Goodyear's corporate communications manager James Bailey said: "Recent statistics showed that parents of children between the ages of 7 and 11 consider road accidents to be the number one threat to their children, and that accidents peak at school run times.

"At Goodyear we are very proud of the innovations we have made to improve safety for motorists.

"The idea of drivehomesafely.com is that we spread that message to other areas of road safety."

Entry forms can be downloaded at www.drivehomesafely.com or by calling 0121 362 4070. Closing date for drawings to Goodyear is April 14.
