Roadworks are causing delays in Birkby.

Northern Gas Networks have confirmed that work is under way at a busy crossroads and will mean delays for drivers.

The roadworks began towards the end of last week and look set to continue throughout this week.

The company are in the process of spending hundreds of thousands of pounds replacing ageing iron gas mains with new, safe plastic pipes.

There are currently a number of sites in and around Huddersfield where the works are taking place.

In Birkby it has meant four-way traffic lights at the junction of Grimescar Avenue, Wheathouse Road and Birkby Hall Road.

A spokesman apologised for the delays.
