TWO gangs of robbers have struck in Greenhead Park.
In the worst attack a man is in hospital after being beaten by a gang of about six thugs.
The 36-year-old victim was walking home at 12.15am yesterday and decided to cut through Greenhead Park.
The gang struck when he reached Park Drive.
They took his mobile phone and beat him, leaving him with a broken ankle and broken bones around his eye socket.
He is currently being treated at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where he is due to have surgery for his injuries.
The thieves had stolen his silver Casio watch worth just £20.
The gang are all white men aged 18 to 22 who wore dark clothes.
In the second robbery a gang attacked a 17-year-old student.
He was walking towards the park exit at Gledholt Bank shortly after 9 last night when the thugs came up to him.
One asked him for a light and then grabbed him around the head. The victim was kicked and punched to the ground.
They threw his shoes into a bush.
The thieves stole his Samsung mobile phone and wallet before fleeing across the park towards Trinity Street.
He suffered a cut head and bruised face.
The gang of six or seven were all Asian or African-Caribbean youths aged between 15 and 17.
The ringleader is African-Caribbean, 5ft 7ins tall with a shaved head.
He wore a dark Adidas tracksuit with three white stripes down the arms and legs.
