A WOMAN of 89 was attacked by two thugs in Almondbury.

She was grabbed and robbed in a frightening attack while walking close to her home.

Now Huddersfield CID are appealing for witnesses after the pensioner was robbed in snicket off Fleminghouse Lane.

The attack happened about 12noon on Tuesday.

She turned on to a snicket between 141 and 143 Fleminghouse Lane that leads to Mountfield Road and past St Helen's church.

As she walked along the snicket, the pensioner was approached and grabbed from behind by two men.

One of the men grabbed the victim's arms while the second went through her coat pocket, stealing around £100 in cash.

The suspects then ran towards Fleminghouse Lane.

The victim was able to go back home and contact her son, who in turn called the police.

The woman was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for a check-up but released shortly afterwards.

The two suspects were described as being white men. One was wearing brown bottoms and the second grey or black bottoms.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact DC Peter Usher at Huddersfield CID via 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
