A 23-YEAR-OLD man was badly beaten in a vicious robbery.

The victim was working alone in offices at a large house on Mount- joy Road in Edgerton when he realised intruders were in the building at 5.30pm yesterday.

When he confronted the two burglars, he was attacked and pinned to the floor. He was then whipped with a flex and plug.

They demanded money and stole a small amount from the victim along with his mobile phone and car keys. They escaped in his grey Ford Focus - registration YB03 RHX.

The victim suffered a badly bruised and swollen face and lips. He needed treatment at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Sgt Tim O'Sullivan, of Huddersfield police, said: "This was a brutal attack and it may be the thieves were surprised to find someone still working at the office.

"Did anyone see them hanging around in the area before the burglary?"

One was white, aged about 20, 5ft 9in tall with dark shaven hair and brown eyes. He had a Yorkshire accent and wore a black hooded jacket with a silver stripe across it and a red and white logo with a letter T.

He also wore a scarf pulled up to his nose, a black baseball cap, black jeans and black gloves.

His accomplice was about 20, 6ft and had a Liverpudlian accent.

He had dark facial stubble and wore a thin gold neckchain, a black hooded jacket and black clothes.
