A MAN is in hospital after he was stabbed by robbers.

The 20-year-old from Marsh was walking through Greenhead Park when he was approached from behind by two men near the children's playground at 7.25 last night.

One held a knife to the victim's throat and demanded he empty his pockets. The victim struggled and was then stabbed.

Det Con Steve Shaw, of Huddersfield CID, said: "At first the victim thought he had been punched and he called relatives for help.

"It was only then he realised his injuries were more serious.

"He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with stab wounds to his back and arm. He also has facial injuries."

The victim was said to be in a stable condition.

The thieves stole a music player and a cardigan, but they were later found dumped in the park.

The two attackers were Asian men in dark hooded tops.
