A WOULD-BE robber failed in a bid to steal cash from a train passenger.
The victim, a 20-year-old man, was sitting in the front carriage of a train from Leeds to Huddersfield.
Two other men got on the train in Leeds at 9.15pm on Tuesday and sat in the same carriage.
When the train was between Morley and Batley one of the men sat opposite the victim, said he had a knife and demanded money.
The victim refused to hand anything over and the two men left.
The man who demanded the money is African-Caribbean and in his mid-20s with a shaved head.
He wore blue baggy trousers and a zip-up blue sports top with the number nine on both sleeves.
He wore a white T-shirt and dirty white training shoes.
His accomplice is also African-Caribbean, aged 25 to 30 and slim.
He also had a shaved head and wore a blue and white sweatshirt top with blue arms and a white patch on the front.
Anyone else on the train who saw the robbery bid or the men should phone Detective Constable Andy Bailey on 0845 405040.
