CHILDREN have been learning about the technology of the future at a Robot Day.

Year 5 pupils at Moorlands Primary School, Mount, spent the day learning how to control electronic robots.

Each class in the year was given an hour-long information technology workshop with company Robot Skool.

They were split into small groups and shown how to control different robots via a series of programmes on laptop computers.

After the workshops the children were sent to design and make their own 3D models of robots.

Seen programming their robots are (from left) Tom Smith, Josh O'Dwyer and Daniel Swallow.

Carolyn Littlewood, deputy headteacher, said: "We do this workshop every year, because it helps us fulfil the National Curriculum criteria for IT - and it is fun for the children."
