A MAN kept police at bay in a police siege drama.

Officers were called to a house on Smith House Grove in Brighouse just after 9pm last night.

It is understood they were responding to reports of a domestic incident at the home which is off the main Bradford Road midway between the centre of Brighouse and Bailiff Bridge.

But the man clambered on to the roof and refused to come down.

He then spent the night ripping the roof up and hurling the tiles at police and into the street and garden below.

He had left a huge hole in the roof and many of the rafters were left exposed to the weather.

No-one was hurt in the 11-hour drama which finished at about 8.30am when the man came down.

The area had been sealed off overnight.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said this morning: “A 38-year-old man has been arrested and taken to Halifax police station for questioning about the incident.”
