PART of a town centre footpath was sealed off after tiles blew from a building roof in high winds.

Huddersfield was lashed by gales this afternoon and the winds brought tiles off the block housing Iceland in Trinity Street.

Police were called after one of the tiles struck a car in Trinity Street but no-one was hurt.

They cordoned off the pavement - used extensively by students from Greenhead College - and alerted engineers from Kirklees Council to inspect the damage.
