A MAN has been remanded in custody after a rooftop siege in Brighouse.

Anthony Regan, 38, was charged with criminal damage and affray following the incident which began on August 3 at Smith House Grove, Brighouse.

He appeared yesterday at Calderdale Magistrates Court.

The court was told roof tiles were hurled at police officers, who were also threatened with a pitchfork.

No pleas were entered to the two offences and a bail application made by his solicitor, Bill Rawstron, was refused.

Magistrates decided the case should be dealt with at Bradford Crown Court.

Regan will next appear in court on August 12.
