ROWLEY Lane Junior Infant and Nursery School is cutting its carbon footprint thanks to its new solar panels.

The school was fitted with 20 panels, bought with a £20,000 grant from the Government and the Co-operative Green Energy for Schools Scheme.

In a year the panels can generate energy to power 33,000 computers for one hour and cut annual CO² emissions by two tonnes.

School bursar Deborah Walker said: “We’re very happy to have these here and it’s a step towards the eco-schools target.”
