HUNDREDS of dancers put on their tap shoes for a seven-hour charity ‘feet’.

The annual Roy Castle Tapathon was held yesterday and organisers are confident that this year’s event will push the total raised over 15 years beyond the £200,000 mark.

Over those past 15 years the event has raised £189,000.

This year’s tapathon was held at the North Bridge Leisure Centre in Halifax and featured dance schools from across Huddersfield, Brighouse and Calderdale – including the Strickland Cook School of Dance, the Donna Claire School of Dance, Dorothy Stevens School of Dance, the Janet Austin Tappers, HD1 Dance and the Barbara Peters School of Dance.

All the money from the event raised will go to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, the charity named after the Scholes-born entertainer who battled cancer.

He died from the disease, but left behind a legacy which has seen millions spent on research.
