ROYAL Mail has delivered almost 92% of First Class post to addresses with Huddersfield postcodes on time, according to latest figures.

The organisation hit its targets with 91.9% of First Class mail delivered in the HD postcode area during the period from the end of March to early July.

Royal Mail achieved 93.8% for the Wakefield postcode areas, 94.7% for Halifax, 92.1% for Bradford and 91.5% for Leeds. Its spring report to regulator Postcomm showed that the “overwhelming majority of first and second class mail was delivered on or above target during the period.

Standard Parcels and European international mail both beat their targets during the quarter.

Alison Wright, Royal Mail regional operations director for the North East, said: “The most recent above-target results are encouraging and reflect the determination of our postmen and women to deliver the best-possible service.” Nationally, the company missed its First Class target by 1.6% in the three-month spring period to early June. Second Class narrowly missed its target – by just 0.1%. During the spring quarter, 91.4% of First Class stamped and franked mail was delivered the next working day after posting against a target of 93.0%. A total of 98.4% of Second Class stamped and franked mail was delivered within three working days after posting, a 0.1 percentage point below the 98.5% target.
