YOUNG rugby league players from Meltham and Slaithwaite are ready to see their dreams come true.

The under-eights from Meltham All Blacks and Slaithwaite Saracens will be taking centre stage at the McAlpine Stadium tomorrow as part of the curtain-raiser to the Great Britain v Australia Ashes Test match.

The action for the youngsters gets under way at 5pm, with Meltham playing Bradford side Wibsey and Slaithwaite taking on Halifax Vandals.

And they will be going head-to-head in front of a bumper crowd, with the Test match at 6.15pm having attracted a capacity crowd of about 24,000.

The players from both sides have been training hard in readiness.

Slaithwaite coach Ian Maclaren, has been getting his players prepared for the clash.

At the same time, Meltham coaches Richard Coote and Andrew King having been polishing up their squad's tactics for the big day.
