SLAITHWAITE GP Sue Walker will be fulfilling an ambition when she takes part in the London Marathon in April.

Sue, who works under her maiden name at Croft House Surgery, has been delighted with the support she has received for the run from family, friends, colleagues and patients.

Sue, 34, of Seymour Walk, Meltham, said: "I only took up running 12 months ago as a means of getting fit after the birth of my second daughter."

Husband Aidan Crowe helped her get the fitness bug after he bought her some personal trainer sessions.

She has since done several 10-kilometre runs and joined Holmfirth Harriers "for the safety and companionship of running with others on dark, dreary nights."

Sue is now training as often as she can while juggling work and home life with Aidan and their daughters, Emily, three, and Isobel, 18 months.

She will be running in aid of the Action Medical Research charity.
