A man who met his girlfriend via an online game has appeared in court after biting her.

Ryan Broderick, 30, admitted to assaulting Chloe Edmundson at their Cleckheaton home.

He initially claimed that the bite mark on the 21-year-old was due to rough sexual activity between them, Kirklees magistrates heard.

Alex Bozman, prosecuting, said: “The complainant met through an online game and he moved into her home.

“The relationship was not good and she made some remarks on Facebook.

“Her friends raised concerns about this and contact was made with police.”

Officers attended at the address in Turnsteads Crescent and found that Miss Edmundson had suffered some injuries.

Mr Bozman said: “She had redness to her neck, bruising to her shoulder and one bite mark.

“He (Broderick) claimed that this was due to rough sexual activity but now admits that she was assaulted.”

Broderick’s solicitor said that his client now accepted that biting was a form of assault.

Magistrates adjourned his sentencing until April 21 and banned him from entering Yorkshire.
