A woman who threw paint over a car got a shock when she found out how much it cost to repair it, a court heard.

Sarah Buckle, of Bradley Boulevard in Sheepridge, threw the tin of gloss paint towards her friend during a row in the street.

But this splashed onto a neighbour’s Ford Fiesta, causing almost £1,500 worth of damage.

Buckle, 25, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when she appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court.

The incident happened outside her address on June 16.

Following her arrest Buckle told police that she had not slept for five or six days.

She explained that she had been on a drink and drug-fuelled “bender”.

Mr Weekes said: “She could remember throwing the paint into the road and was reckless in causing the damage to the car.

“She became a bit upset when told there had been a valuation of the cost of removing the gloss paint.

“It is very difficult to remove from the bodywork of a vehicle.”

Magistrates heard that Buckle was “distressed” at causing damage to the car.

This was particularly the case as it belonged to a neighbour who she had been getting on very well with.

Magistrates ordered Buckle to pay £500 towards repairing the damaged vehicle as well as £15 victim surcharge.
