TEENAGER Sarah Rollinson was expecting a quiet birthday at home but now all the family are going to celebrate her 17th at the concert.

Dad Stuart, of Cromarty Drive, Crosland Moor, wanted his daughter to go the concert to celebrate her birthday - on July 30.

But living on disability allowance meant he could not afford tickets for all the family.

But now Greenhead College student Sarah will be able to celebrate in style.

She said: "I am really pleased. I have seen Blue before, but this time I will be able to take my mum and dad, grandma and brothers along and we will have a really great time.

"I have liked the band since they started and seeing them on my birthday will be extra special."

* Blue are Lee Ryan, 20, Duncan James, 25, Anthony Costa, 22, and Simon Webbe, 25.

* They have enjoyed massive success in the charts with three number one albums and singles.

* The band's mission statement is "to perform quality songs with tough grooves and soulful vocals".

* The boys had a big hit when they teamed up with Elton John for a new version of his classic 1976 song Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word.

* As well as in Britain, Blue are big stars in New Zealand, Thailand, Norway, Denmark, Australia, Hong Kong and Ireland.

* Girls Aloud, Darius and Phixx will also be performing for the crowds at the McAlpine Stadium on July 31.
