HUDDERSFIELD'S X Factor contestant Ashford Campbell is to make a dramtic return to the show after boyband star Ashley Baptiste turned down his chance at stardom by walking out of the X Factor.
Baptiste quit boyband The Risk just days before they sing live to millions on tonight’s episode of the ITV1 show.
Ashford was previously a member of the boyband Nu Vibe who were voted out in the early stages of the live shows.
He was summoned to the X Factor studios on Friday to rehearse with his new bandmates ahead of tonight’s show after they asked their mentor Tulisa Contostavlos if he could join.
The boys said: "We’re devastated that Ashley has decided to leave but we respect his decision.
"After taking in the news we decided that we didn’t want to be a trio, we really wanted another member. We have always liked Ashford, right from bootcamp, and always had a strong bond with him.
"He’s mega-talented and will bring so many qualities to the group. We’re so glad he said yes and we can’t wait to get rehearsing."
Contostavlos said she was "gutted" to see Ashley go, but added that Ashford was "a fantastic fit".
Ashford said he "couldn’t believe" it when he got the call offering him a place back on the show.
He said: "I had to speak to the Nu Vibe boys first and once they gave me their blessing I was straight back on the phone to grab the offer. It’s unbelievable and now I’ve got to work even harder after my break."
