A COUPLE were awoken by knife-wielding youths ransacking their home.

They went downstairs at their house on Union Street in Lindley to be confronted by two robbers.

The male occupant was punched and kicked before the intruders started to help themselves to property.

But his partner managed to call police, who arrived within minutes.

Two youths, aged 17 and 18, were arrested and are being questioned.

The couple were left shaken by the incident, at about 2.45am on Saturday, but were not badly hurt.
