A SPORTS project in Huddersfield has been hailed a great success.

The scheme, called Saturday Night Soccer, was set up to direct young people away from anti-social behaviour and into positive activities like football.

The project takes place at The Zone, St Andrew’s Road, and has involved over 87 young people since it was set up 12 months ago.

The initiative is run by Kirklees Young People’s Service in partnership with West Yorkshire Police and has been funded by the area committee.

The youngsters taking part have thanked their local councillors for funding the project.
