ELLAND people are fighting plans to shut a community hall.
The Wainwright Hall is one of two which could be shut as part of Calderdale Council's bid to save cash.
Groups that use the Jepson Lane building - including an over-60s club - are mounting a campaign against closure.
A final decision is due at the council's budget meeting next Tuesday.
Protesters gained a glimmer of hope after one council committee urged town hall leaders to draw back from closure.
The committee said a plan to allow community groups to run the building should be considered instead.
