A COUPLE are celebrating 30 years running a Huddersfield pub.
Stephen and Margaret Lowe have been in charge of the Lower Royal George at Scammonden since April 28, 1982.
He said: “The pub served food when we took over but we’ve extended the menu to what it is today, including Margaret’s excellent pies.
“I was trained as a butcher and Margaret was trained as a chef so we both know what we’re doing.”
The couple took over the Lower Royal George in 1982 having previously run The Victoria on Woodhead Road in Holmfirth – now The Toad and Tatie.
