Police are continuing to investigate a serious crash at Scapegoat Hill which left a woman seriously injured and her baby hurt.

The incident happened at Round Ings Road last month at the junction of New Hey Road when a red BMW and Vauxhall Corsa collided, trapping the woman in her vehicle.

But the horrific crash was witnessed by Neil Hart, of Golcar, who rushed to help her and was joined by three people who helped drag the injured motorist out and lifted her baby girl to safety as fire broke out under the bonnet.

Michelle Shirtliffe, Khalid Saleem and Jamie Shaw joined Mr Hart in getting the stricken pair out of their car after the head-on crash.

The 25-year-old woman driver of the Corsa suffered serious leg injuries and was flown by the air ambulance to LGI.

Her 10-month-old child was also flown to LGI with facial injuries but has since made a full recovery.

A police spokesman said: “No arrests have been made at the present time.”

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash which happened at 11.35am on Saturday, October 25 to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.
