ARTIST John Lockwood is trying to raise cash for charity by selling pictures of a Huddersfield beauty spot.

Mr Lockwood, of Halifax, is selling 500 limited edition prints of his painting of Castle Hill.

Half the proceeds will go to the West Yorkshire Forget-Me- Not Trust, the charity supported by this year's Kirklees Mayor, Clr Barbara Allonby.

It was set up in 1998 by Ainley Top mother Linda Senior, who realised there was a need for a children's hospice in Kirklees and Calderdale.

So far, £250,000 has been raised.

To promote his efforts, Mr Lockwood has given one of the prints to Hubert Lockwood dry cleaners, of New North Road in Huddersfield.

But he is no relation.

The firm also has stores in Elland and Cleckheaton.

The picture was a gift for the firm's golden jubilee - appropriate since Mr Lockwood is nicknamed Golden Brush.

He is hoping the picture will drum up sales if it is on display.

Anyone interested in buying a print should call him on 01484 718387, 07761261693, email goldenbrush@talk21.com or Edward's Cafe, Market Avenue, Huddersfield.
