ENTHUSIASTIC teaching is a key feature of a school which has just received a glowing education report.

Inspectors from Ofsted said learning was fun at Reinwood Infant and Nursery School because teaching "invariably bubbles over with enthusiasm".

During the two-day inspection last month, inspectors also heard praise from parents who said "this school is excellent" and identified "the open door policy, fantastic teaching and a very caring approach" as the key ingredients for its success.

They found that the improvements since the school was last inspected were "immense".

They also noted that teaching was outstanding "in the way that children are spell-bound at the beginning of lessons, very active in problem-solving and acutely thoughtful about how well they have done".

As a result, the school's results have been on an upward trend for the last five years. Achievement is outstanding in reading, writing, maths and science.

They go on to say that not only does the very engaging curriculum have a compelling influence on children's academic progress but it also has a tremendous one on their personal development.

Head teacher Karen Butler said: "This is a fantastic report which reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment of staff, governors, children and parents.

"It has been a real team effort. I am particularly pleased that the inspectors commented on the children's extremely good grounding in personal and academic skills."

Mrs Kim Jowett, chair of governors, said: "All the governors are delighted with the outstanding report about a school which we are all thrilled to support as it goes from strength to strength."
