A SCHOOL and a social club have teamed up in a bid to beat school-run traffic chaos.

Parents dropping children off at Rowley Lane Junior Infant and Nursery School in Lepton have been causing problems for some time.

Now Rowley Hill WMC at Common End Road - just off Rowley Lane - has come up with a solution.

Club member John Langford said the club wanted to improve its car park and a footpath leading from the club to the school.

The aim was to encourage parents to park at the club and walk their children to school, rather than clogging up the area outside the school.

Meetings had taken place between the head teacher, parish councillors, Kirklees Council and club members.

Mr Langford added the club hoped to attract money or support from the Government or Kirklees Council to help make the improvements to the car park and footpath. Club members were willing to help carry out the work.

He said the club wanted the car park to be used by the community.

"It's a community spirited club," he said.
