SCHOOLFRIENDS of an Almondbury youngster are giving her a helping hand to buy a special computer.

Five-year-old Amber McCudden, who has cerebral palsy, needs a talking computer to help her communicate with her classmates at Almondbury Infant and Nursery School.

And Lynne Wilson, whose son, Lewis Lawford, is a friend of Amber's, is organising a sponsored walk and raffle to help out.

Miss Wilson, of Highlands Avenue, Almondbury, said: "Amber is still only young, but at every stage of her life she is going to need things to help her out.

"I've never organised anything like this before, but I know Amber's mum, Jayne, and I wanted to help."

The sponsored walk has been organised for Sunday, November 27, around the recreation ground in the village.

The school has sent out letters asking as many people as possible to take part.

Lynne said a talking computer would cost about £3,000 and Amber's family had already raised £1,000 towards it.
