OLYMPIC fever spread to All Saints Catholic College as lessons switched to embrace the values of the Games.

Flags were flying as students from the Bradley Bar school hosted their own Olympic opening ceremony.

Former student Rebecca Kane, who carried the Olympic Torch in the relay, was invited to the Bradley Road school.

Two large cannons were fired to start a ceremony which featured carnival dancers and students waving the flags of many countries.

A giant crown made during art lessons provided a dramatic backdrop.

The school games got underway after the ceremony with a full day of athletics.

A school gala followed and competitors were rewarded with tasty treats and allowed to let of steam on inflatable attractions.

Assistant headteacher Alan Perrons said: “The students of All Saints had a fantastic day experiencing all the joys of celebrating together but also celebrating our roles as global citizens.”
