SEVEN kind-hearted schoolgirls walked five miles in aid of Kirkwood Hospice.
Fiona Rodger, Anna Dawson, Annabelle Greyson, Megan Sutcliffe, Chloe Riley, Leah Silvester and Tyra Helliwell all completed the walk.
The ten-year-olds walked the five miles of the Spen Valley Greenway from Crossley Lane to Cleckheaton and back again. They raised £560 sponsorship from schoolfriends and family.
Fiona’s mum Carole Rodger said: “It was just something the girls all wanted to do, it came up out of the blue, but they are a caring bunch of girls.
“It is nice that they want to do something to help others and I’m sure they’ll want to do more in the future.”
The girls, who will all be in year six next year, are pupils at Crossley Fields Junior School, Mirfield.
They were fully supported by their teacher, classmates and others at the school.
Fiona also donated a big teddy to the Hospice, which she had won in a raffle.
Melanie Crossley, North Kirklees fundraiser for Kirkwood Hospice said: “I am so impressed with the maturity and enthusiasm these lovely young girls have shown towards raising funds for charity.”
