HECKMONDWIKE Grammar School won a North Kirklees Year 7 cricket festival which attracted scores of players.

The event was held under the Kirklees Youth Games umbrella at Leeds Road Sports Complex in Huddersfield.

The competition, a hard ball based eight-aside event which was a transition form between kwik cricket and the standard version of the game, was organised and supported by both Spen Valley and St John Fishers School Sport Partnerships.

Heckmondwike beat Spen Valley Sports College in the final.

Other teams who took part were Thornhill Juniors, Westborough High School, Batley Boys High School, Gomersal Middle, West End Middle and Castle Hall School.
