PUPILS and staff at Almondbury CE Infant School enjoyed a visit from their European friends.

Teachers from schools in five different countries spent a week at the school.

The school is involved in a project called 'The Incredible Journey' which links it to the European schools.

Schools from Finland, Germany, Norway, Slovakia and Sweden are taking part.

The three-year project is funded by the EU Comenius fund.

It enables the children to learn more about life and culture in the partner countries.

This year the schools are learning about local environments and industrial history.

To communicate the information each school prepares a box which is posted around Europe, arriving at each partner school in turn.

The schools are also posting pictures on the internet which show seasonal changes in their local environments.

Almondbury Infant School is playing host to pupils from Bratislava, in Slovakia, in June.

Twice a year two teachers from each school meet at one of the schools to discuss the project and learn more about education in Europe.
