SCHOOLS in Kirklees are taking part in a new tree-planting scheme.

Woodland Trust, the conservation charity, is encouraging children to take part in a nationwide planting initiative.

Schools receive free ‘hedge and copse’ packs and as a result of this more than 4,000 trees will be planted across the country.

The benefits will provide wildlife with a wider range of food.

It will also safeguard our native trees for years.

Schools taking part include: St Patricks CE Primary School, Huddersfield; St Paulinus Catholic Primary School, Dewsbury; Thornhill CE J&I School, Dewsbury; Upper Hopton Playgroup, Mirfield; Boothroyd Primary School, Dewsbury; Bywell CE Junior School, Dewsbury; Chickenley Community JI&N School, Dewsbury; Crowlees CE J&I School, Mirfield; Moldgreen Community Primary School, Netherthong Primary School, Old Earth CE Primary School, Elland; Ravenshall Special School, Dewsbury; Scissett CE First School and St Johns CE Primary School, Brighouse.
