SCOOTER fans from all over the country came to Huddersfield at the weekend for the scooter rally of the year.

The event at Lepton Highlanders Sports and Cricket Club attracted more than 3,000 riders from all over the country, with some even travelling from Northern Ireland and Scotland.

The Yorkshire Alliance Club, a collection of more than 80 clubs and solo riders from the Yorkshire region, organised the rally and put together a fantastic event, with a number of bands from around the region providing entertainment throughout the weekend.

Jason Taylor, member of the Huddersfield scooter Club, said: “The weekend was absolutely amazing. We’ve been holding this event for the past four years now and this year we have had the biggest turn out so far. Twice as many people came as we were expecting – it is just absolutely phenomenal!”

Some of the most impressive scooters in the country were on show, including a Lambretta called Sign Of The Snake, which has become a legend in Yorkshire.

Jason added: “There were some absolutely magnificent bikes, some very different and unusual. It was great that all us scooter fans out there could come together and put on such a great event.”

The Yorkshire Alliance Club also held a battle of the bands contest, where Not The Majority, from Oldham, and The Jack Offs, from Leeds, competed against each other for the winning title.

Not The Majority won, meaning they were the opening act on Saturday, performing in front of a packed house.

Other attractions of the event included a dealer and scooter parts fair, a food court, a marquee and a selection of music.
