SLAITHWAITE youngster Scott Lawton kept his eye on the ball to win a snooker contest while on holiday.

Eleven-year-old Scott, of Lingards Road, won the weekly Young Snooker Champion tournament at Pontins in Southport.

He received a winner's medallion, a gift voucher and a certificate - and has been invited to take part in the finals in November at Pontins in Prestatyn, North Wales.

Scott took up the game as a junior member of the Top Spot Snooker Club at Aspley three years ago and last year reached the final of the Conservative Snooker League's Lawrence Batley Trophy competition.
