A HUDDERSFIELD woman has gained the Scouting movement's top award for personal achievement.

Rosalind Fellows, 22, of Almondbury Close, Almondbury, an assistant county commissioner, has been granted the Queen's Scout Award.

Its holders have to show very high standards of self-discipline and achievement in community service, activities and interests.

Self-reliance and personal initiative are also key aspects of the award.

People aged between 16 and 25 and who are members of Explorer Scouts and Scout Network are eligible for the award.

Every Queen's Scout receives a royal certificate bearing a message from the Queen.

Rosalind has been invited to the annual national Scout service and St George's Day Parade at Windsor Castle.

This takes place on the Sunday nearest St George's Day - April 23.

She was a Venture Scout in Kirkburton from the age of 15.

She then became a leader with the 28th Kirkburton Cub pack.

Last summer, Rosalind was invited to Buckingham Palace to mark her contribution to the Scouting movement in West Yorkshire.
