A FORMER Scout returned to his old group to teach the youngsters some new tricks.

Ken Rothery, 84, showed the young Beavers and Scouts at the Parkwood troop at Longwood how to tie a knot.

His demonstration came more than 70 years after he first learned the art of tying knots.

So Mr Rothery used his experience to show the youngsters how to do it themselves.

Scout Leader Richard Jackson said Mr Rothery was a Scout with the group in 1936.

They invited him back as part of their centenary celebrations.

To mark their 100th anniversary the Scouts will be holding an open day at Parkwood Methodist Church on Saturday, March 1, and are inviting as many former scouts and leaders as they can.

If you were involved with the Scouts and would like to take part ring Mr Jackson on 01484 645473.
