A HUDDERSFIELD man is warming up for the London Marathon.

Sean Fennell, 40, hopes to raise £1,500 for Children with Leukaemia when he takes part in the 26-mile challenge.

It will be the first time the married father-of-one has been involved in a big running event.

Sales manager Sean, from Waterloo, decided to take up the challenge after turning 40 this year.

He said: "I have never done anything like this before.

"But every year I watch the marathon on TV and think I'm going to do that one day.

"So I'm doing it for all us armchair athletes out there!"

Sean has already begun his gruelling training regime for the April 22 run.

He trains six days a week, running up to 55 miles a week. On Sundays he sets off on a 15-mile run.

Sean, who works for Keyline Builders' Merchants, said: "It is difficult around here because it is so hilly. It is hard work, but it's for a good cause."

Family and friends will be travelling to London with him to cheer him on.
