TEACHERS are to be recognised for their dedication and talent at the Teaching Awards Trust annual awards ceremony.

The trust will give 10 awards to teachers from across the UK on June 13 at a ceremony in The Majestic Hotel, Harrogate - and nominations are wanted from the Huddersfield area.

The awards include teacher of the year in a primary school, teacher of the year in a secondary school, a lifetime achievement award, headteacher of the year in a primary school and headteacher of the year in a secondary school.

There will also be a new award for healthy schools.

David Hanson, the trust's chief executive, said: "The awards provide a fantastic opportunity to recognise exemplary schools, teachers and assistants.

"It's up to members of the local community to help us identify the unsung heroes of teaching who've made a difference to pupils' lives."

The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 18.

Teachers can be nominated by parents, pupils, colleagues and members of the school community.

Nominations can be made via the internet at www.teachingawards. com, where there is a full list of categories.
