CRIME is to be on the agenda at local libraries.

Kirklees Libraries reading development officer Ann Cleeves is looking for local reading groups to take part in the Inter-Crime project.

The scheme aims to get Yorkshire people reading the latest European crime fiction.

The project, paid for by Arts Council England, will use the comments of the pilot groups to promote the books to travellers and to people who love detective novels.

The volunteers will have the chance to read and discuss new books from Europe, including Scandinavia, translated into English.

There will also be chances to meet other reading groups in the project, as well as some of the writers and publishers.

Ann, a published crime novelist, is looking for as wide a range of groups as possible, such as people who work in bookshops and colleges, as well as in libraries.

Anyone interested in taking part should phone her on 0797 3152986.
